Stupid, shiny Volvo owner!

I was asked to explain what I meant by "stupid shiny volvo owner" in my description of me which goes a little something like this:

I am a 21 year old white female with an interest in graphic design. I will one day be a "stupid, shiny volvo owner." I used to be in love with Mr. Darcy until I read about Edward, now I no longer remember why I liked Darcy. He's so rude.


The "stupid, shiny Volvo owner" comment came from the novel, Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. (**SPOILER-ish ALERT**) Edward Cullen drives a Volvo, and at one point before Bella and he befriend each other she says this when she sees his car parked in the school parking lot. So, basically thats that. I just have an unhealthy obsession with the book Twilight and now since I love Edward, I want to drive a shiny Volvo, just like him.

Now, actually I've been wanting to blog about the second thing in my description, but I never felt that it was appropriate, but now that I have discussed the beginning part of the "about me" I feel that it would be appropriate to continue on my discourse about Edward Cullen vs. Mister Fitzwilliam Darcy.

I read Pride and Prejudice -- woah, totally random epiphany here - I feel as though my blog has taken on a literary theme. anywho... -- I read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen during my Senior year in high school, I believe it was in the Fall of 2004, nearly 4 years ago. Upon reading this novel, I recall developing this strong book crush on Mr. Darcy. From the way he was described I couldn't help but be attracted to this fake person.

Now, nearly 4 years later, I have read Twilight and I have become completely enamored with Edward Cullen, and think to myself, why, oh why, was I ever in love with the fictional character of Mister Fitzwilliam Darcy when this Edward Cullen fellow is so very much more amazinger? (yes, I know that "amazinger" is not a word, but deal with it)

Mr. Darcy is just so rude in P&P, I can hardly understand now why I as well as many other women who have read this exact book and felt the need to find a man just like Mr. Darcy. Why in the world would any woman, or any person for that matter want to be with a person who treated them like they were trash for so long before finally pronouncing their eternal, undying love for you. So, yeah I guess I'd forgive Darcy for being a jerk if he told me that he was in love with me. But also, then again in his little love confession, he does say that it was against his better judgement. Really now, would that build up any person's self esteem? Puh-lease!

Ok, well, I feel like I'm ranting now and that this post will make ZERO sense, but enjoy it nonetheless.
