I'm official!

As you are probably aware, I am now a happy resident of the town of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I am living in the barn behind my grandparent's house (send me letters! for an address, drop me an email at rebeccajessene@gmail.com). Now, saying that I live in a barn doesn't sound good, does it? In all honesty it is not bad at all. Saying I live in a barn sounds like I sleep in hay, with piles of horse manure all around, and pigs squeeling and rolling around in mud, or something similar. The barn is really just a big work shed that Gramps built with his own two hands. The second story of the barn was converted into a temporary living space, but those who have lived there have been more of semi-permanent residents. Since beginning my stint at living in the barn, we have taken to calling it my flat or the flat, rather than the barn.

I mentioned in my last post that I was planning to do a virtual tour of the flat, and I still am. I'll try to have that up tomorrow. Right now It is a mess! I haven't put away my clothes and all that I brought back from being in Hammond during my surgery and recovery time. My plan is to clean up a bit tonight and then take photos in the morning, and post them to my blog and in a facebook album, tomorrow.

I really do enjoy living in the barn, yet somehow when previous tenants tell you about the squirrels waking you, or several other little lovely quirks, you seem to not understand until you experience it. I think that the flat is shaping up into a very nice bachelorette pad.

I am working at Wallhead Uniform Wearhouse, which is located in Sumrall, MS. Today has been a good business day. We've sold a few polo shirts, some boys paints, and some girls pants, and some camo hats embroidered with the sumrall bobcats logo. *I just had an idea, after I do my virtual tour of the flat, I'm going to do one of Wallhead.* On the average day, we don't really sell much. Most people who come in are here for Martin's eTax service. I've been busy these last few days giving out checks, it reminds me a lot of working in the Controller's office, except so far everyone who has come in for a check has had one and there haven't been any hateful people. These people should be gracious anyway. Some of them come in in the morning, and then in the afternoon, they have their tax refund money, via Rapid refund, it's like a loan, but it is the money they'll be getting for their taxes, they just don't have to wait for it. (a few short anecdotes from today can be found in the 25 random thoughts portion of this blog)

CRAPSICLES!! I went off on a tangent and forgot to write what I was really going to write about! I opened a bank account today. I chose to bank at Hancock bank. The reason being, there is a Hancock in Sumrall (where I work), Hattiesburg (where I live), Hammond (where I'm from). I deposited my paycheck from Wallhead into my account. My checks and debit card should arrive in the mail in 7-10 days, is what Jermaine said. I got the boring Hancock checks from the bank, because the first order was free he said. But, before going to get my account I was looking online for checks and I found some cool Gone With the Wind checks. The only issue with them is that I have to buy 2 boxes of them. It only costs $13 though for the 2 boxes, so I don't think that is too bad. I just don't write many checks, but I have always wanted cute ones. Oh well. I really wish I could have some Audrey Hepburn checks. Maybe I'll do a google search for those. Well, I'm off to do that.

& now for some entertainment, I am going to include these 25 random thoughts that I posted on a facebook note/blog earlier today.

Rules: Once you have been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you its because I want to know more about you.

1) I am a college graduate, but I am still enrolled in school for personal reasons.
2) Those personal reasons include the fact that I have some cyst on ovary issues (sorry for those who read this and didn't want to know that at all) and I need to keep my insurance, but wouldn't be able to get the coverage that I need on my own insurance plan, so I'm staying on the parents'.
3) I work in a small town in Mississippi. It's called Sumrall.
4) Nish tagged me, and I've seen people doing this 25 random things and I secretly wanted to do it too. I almost did it without being tagged the other day.
5) I miss my friends in Hammond and in the surrounding areas.
6) I am trying to get myself to not be such a facebook addict and am going to be featured on the blog circuit. I have a blog (it's linked on my profile). I think my friends should check it out.
7) I am trying to not make my answers to these similar to what Nish wrote ... like, for 6 she said she was single, and I did not though I could have, because I am single. And I'm totally ok with that.
8) I am a Mac person. I wouldn't have it any other way. Though, the courses I am taking right now (online courses) require windows, and I am having a little bit of compatibility issues. So this is a plea for anyone who might have windows XP with an extra code or a code that isn't in use, let me know!
9) I own a Mazda3. I love my little car. I call her Zoomzoom.
10) My stomach is growling. I am counting down the minutes until I can go out, open my new bank account here in Hattiesburg, get some lunch, and most important get out of dull day to day work place.
11) By Ianisha Chairs: "I'm anti kids. They're cute I'll run around with them and all. But i like the giving them back to the mommas part. Correction lets get for real some kids are cute. All babies are rather on the not cute side, unless they're related to you. Then they're the joy of your life." DITTO! No really I'm kind of kidding. I like my cousins. I don't want any kids for myself, right now. I think that may change one day when I'm grown up, married, and want a family. But right now, I do not want that.
12) To be honest, I have no idea what I've written on this thing so far. I'm basically just writing what comes off the top of my head.
13) I cried like a baby in Marley and Me... yes, the DOG movie!
14) My dream is to someday work for Google, and after completing my Graduate degree, I will attempt it. For now, I'm happy dreaming.
15) I didn't make a new years resolution this year. Because I make the same one every year "simplify." I found a really awesome list of tips to use to better your life not long ago (it's posted on my blog, see what you guys are missing?!).
16) I spilled slim fast on my cell phone yesterday. I'm still waiting for it to short out on me.
17) I just took a break from this little random comments note to actually sell some school uniforms and give some tax people their checks.
18) These people that I just gave checks to said that I have a cajun accent. They asked how to get back to the Interstate and I said I didn't know because I just moved over this way. That's when the man said that I sounded like I wasn't from here. They were really nice. And the lady before them smelled good and Mike asked what it was called and she said it was a nasty name. And when he left she told me that it was an oil called "Lick me all over." Oh, the fun things you experience at Wallhead Uniform Wearhouse/Martin's eTax office in Sumrall, MS.
19) I'm not sure why I just wrote what I did on the last one.
20) I need to go to the grocery store. I want some chicken nuggets and shells and cheese.
21) I really want to get a puppy to live up in my apartment with me. A black male toy poodle would be my dream.
22) I have an open door policy at my apartment. If any of my wonderful friends ever feel like coming to visit, you are surely more than welcome.
23) I don't have an actual bed. Still looking for the dream bed. I found one I loved at Ethan Allen, but it was $1700... a bit pricey for a bed.
24) I am getting a bank account here in Mississippi. I will join with my other friends who bank at Hancock and go there. I figured this because there is one in Sumrall where I work, in Hattiesburg which is where I live, and in Hammond which is where I am from. I was just looking for checks (because I will need them to pay my bills) and I was thinking about pin ups or Jimi Hendrix. Then I found the Gone With the Wind checks. and they're only $13 for 2 boxes.
25) I could keep writing random things, but I will spare you all.

Love you!

(I think I like writing long blogs.)

Once during my stint at the flat a precious piglet pooped on my bed! It was so gross.

Seriously...longest blog post evah! Loved the 25 random things about you. And I am also digging that word you used...crapsicles. Can I adopt it and use it in my everyday life?

p.s. Please share more anecdotes from your workplace. Very enjoyable.

Also I wanted to add that as a former semi-permanent resident of the "barn"...welcome to the quirky barn liver lover club. True, the barn has it's oddities, but it was a lovely place to live. Beautiful view, hop skip and a jump to Grandma's, and cheap! Embrace the quirkiness Becca.
